Fawn Mckay

Fawn McKay was born on 15 September 1915, in Ogden Utah. Reared in the Mormon Church's very first family, Fawn McKay directed her ingenious creative writing skills and impressive researching skills in the creation of an outstanding psycho-historical biographical biography of Joseph Smith, published in 1945. The book was titled The Only Man is able to know My History. This title was inspired by the funeral sermon delivered by Joseph Smith who was the founding father of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. The preacher shocked the audience when he said telling his audience: "You don't even know my name. There is no way to know my heart." My past is not known to anyone. Truth is I'm not even sure. Fawn (29 years old) stated that in the time after her confessional moment the three hundred and thirty writers have stood up to the occasion. A lot of people have detested him while others have glorified. There are a few who have come to an assessment. The documents are missing, it's that they're so inconsistent. Assembling these documents - sorting through third- and first-hand sources, and integrating the Mormons' stories to those of other people's time-line - is a thorny task. It is both exciting and educational. This is the kind of task to which Fawn Brodie devoted herself professionally. Her writings and research brought her fame around all over the globe: Thaddeus Stephens. Scourge of the south (1959) The Devil Drives. Thomas Jefferson. Richard Nixon and An Intimate Historiography (1974).
